Food City 500

Bristol is about determination. Drivers have to muscle their way around the track and bully their way through traffic. This is a take-no-prisoner kind of course and Newman is a give-no-quarter kind of driver. If he does not wind up on the lead lap and in the top 10, it will not be because of a lack of effort. One would think that kind of statement should be generic for all NASCAR drivers—but it isn’t. Newman is a throwback and this is a classic track.

The short tracks are often dominated by sleepers and dark horses. It is not always about the stats, but looking between the lines, which is why this week’s preview is important.

Draft Kings: Duck Commander 500

I have created a contest at Draft Kings and would like for you to join me. We are keeping it short and simple this first week: nine players with the top three winning, so you have a 33 percent chance of getting your $5 back. If it fills up quickly, I may add another contest, so let me know via the comments section or on Twitter @FantasyRace if you are interested. If there is a lot of interest, we will make the contest bigger next week and the prize money will go up.

Look for the contest named NAS $5 9-Player (Top 3 Win) by FantasyRace.

Remember to Subscribe to the Dan Beaver Fantasy Newsletter and read my comments about the Draft Kings game at Rotoworld.com.

And, of course, remember to read this week’s edition for the Duck Commander 500.

Duck Commander 500

Texas Motor Speedway has a distinct personality and they do everything in their power to make certain that fans have a unique experience. The fact remains, however, that the configuration of the track makes it similar to Atlanta Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway—and also a little like Auto Club Speedway.

On the 1.5-mile versions, six drivers swept the top 10 at Atlanta and Vegas. Two others finished 12th or better in the pair of races, and that is where this week’s favorites will come from. Jimmie Johnson won the Folds of Honor QuickTrip 500 and finished third at Vegas. Brad Keselowski was ninth in Atlanta and won the Kobalt 400. Both drivers supported their strong 1.5-mile runs with top-10s at Auto Club. Johnson won that race.

Remainder of the Season Pricing

In order to give everyone the best deal possible, we added a new pricing structure for the “Remainder of the Season.”

Rest assured, however, that while the overall price is slightly lower than last week, the price per issue has risen—and that means that you got a better deal than someone who just recently subscribed.

Depending on when you subscribed, you paid between 55 and 64 cents per issue. The current price is calculated at 65 cents per issue and we are doing this because new users continue to find us each week. We want to make certain that both they and our subscribers from the early part of season both receive great value.

STP 500

Race fans get a treat for enduring an early-season off week.

NASCAR makes an all-too rare appearance at a short track this coming Sunday when they roll into Southern Virginia. Courses less than a mile in length once dominated the circuit, but 1.5- and two-mile tracks overwhelmed them and track owners turned their backs on the money making potential.

Martinsville Speedway is a throwback track in many ways. The facilities have been updated since it first ran a paved race in fall 1955. That spring and six years previously, this track was dirt and it is the oldest venue on the current NASCAR schedule. While tracks like Nashville Fairgrounds and North Wilkesboro Speedway failed to keep up with improvements needed to remain viable, Martinsville has walked a delicate tightrope of staying true to its roots while giving fans the conveniences they have grown to expect.

Auto Club 400

Auto Club Speedway is a two-mile track that once hosted two events per year. Lagging attendance scaled them back to one race, but there is still plenty of data to consider with Michigan International Speedway. Those two tracks are among the closest comparatives in any given season.

This week, we welcome a new contributor. Skirts & Scuffs’ Carol D’Agostino provides some fast facts for you on page 13.

As always, there are plenty of charts to help make your selections in every Fantasy NASCAR game, so if you haven’t yet subscribed, now is the time to do so. Enjoy and let us know how we can make the preview better.

Good Sam 500k

Phoenix is the first short, flat track of the season and fantasy owners will have a lot of information following the Good Sam 500k. Once this event is in the books, NASCAR will have visited two similarly-configured, 1.5-mile courses and a short, flat track. These two course types not only dominate the season as a whole, they are key to winning the championship.

For now, players have the 2015 stats to guide them and there are several solid picks. In the Yahoo! game, most of the potential winners come from Group A. In the NASCAR Fantasy Live game, they are the most expensive drivers in the game, so it will take some finagling to get the roster right.

We should have registration and login capability now, so subscribers can navigate to the previews page and download any of the previous previews. If you have any problems, email us at Victoria (at) danbeaver.com or dan (at) danbeaver.com and we will send you the preview via email. Kobalt 400

This has been a challenging week.

Those of you who follow me on Twitter, @FantasyRace know why the Las Vegas Motor Speedway preview did not get uploaded until Thursday morning, but we are well on our way to getting these to you my Wednesday mornings.

Las Vegas has always been a tricky track to handicap. With progressive banking, it is unique to the other similarly-configured, 1.5-mile tracks, but there is enough data from the other so-called “cookie-cutter” tracks to make some informed guesses.

We are also incredibly close to getting the login module completed so you can download these at your leisure (it may even be done this afternoon). When that is in place, we will generate an email telling you the preview is live with a link to the download. For now, complete the subscription process and we will email it to you.

$19.95 gets you a full year; or buy this week’s issue for $1.16.

Folds of Honor Quicktrip 500

Last week’s Daytona 500 was as exciting as it was erratic. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Chase Elliott’s accident destroyed a lot of rosters. For many players, the season starts now. The Folds of Honor Quicktrip 500 at Atlanta is much more predictable.

We continue to make changes here at Dan Beaver’s Fantasy News and will soon have a login module for our subscribers. If you subscribed before the Daytona 500, you should have already received the preview in your email box. If you have not, send an email to Victoria @ danbeaver.com and we will take care of you.

For the moment, subscribers will receive the preview via email, whether you purchase a year-long subscription for $19.95 or chose to buy this week’s Atlanta preview for $1.16. This week’s preview is 14 pages long and contains 15 charts—all the vital information you need to beat the competition. And all the expert analysis you expect from Dan Beaver.
